Weeknotes #3 (November 23, 2024)
Posted on:
Things I found, read, did, and produced this past week.
- I wrote about expanding what I want to do on this website into the new year: Branching out in 2025
- A colleague of mine Chris Biscardi gave a talk at this year's RustConf on how a lot of modern web development methodologies from JS are also available with Rust & WebAssembly: "Web Sites, Web Apps, and Web Assembly" - RustConf 2024
- Both in a video from YouTuber Robin Waldun and during the 2nd portion of this week's Tuesday Vergecast, the topic came up between transcription and knowledge extraction when note taking. It is easy to transcribe or just copy things out, but actually summarizing or extracting insight is much harder.
- YouTuber Pillar of Garbage put out a video on "Slop": Slop Economics which I first was imaging it going into GenAI Art and Slop AI, but it actually was on the idea of basically filler content or "second screen content". I may dig into this in a future post as it is a wild thought to make movies or television for background consumption rather than for something to get invested in and sucked into these worlds.
- Watched more of Bartender Glass of God, an anime about Bartending which is actually a remake of a 2006 anime and it is such a peaceful vibe: Bartender Glass of God (Crunchyroll)
