Weeknotes #14 (February 08, 2025)

Things I found, read, did, and produced this past week.
Things I worked on
- I've been slowly working on the Lego Tranquil Garden set over this month. Only have 2 more bags out of 11 to go, so I should be able to complete it this upcoming week.
Things I consumed
- A friend shared Trmnl, a e-ink display that displays whatever information you want it to, calendars, todos, news, etc. The thing that sets it apart is the firmware for the system is open source and if you don't want to have to use their cloud software for running the device, you can run that locally as well. I love the concept but I am going to sit on it for a few more weeks likely if I want to order one or not.
- Another week, another YouTube on Severance from DamiLee covering specifically from an architecture / office culture lens: Is Your Office Designed to Control You? [The 'Severance' Effect]. Also, the actual show now being on episode 4 of season 2 is continuing to be really good and heavy hitting.
- OpenAI pushed out deep research, a new service as part of their $200 a month pro plan that will go out and crawl the web anywhere between 5-30 minutes asynchronously in order to collect data on a topic you want to research. It is definitely early on as they explicitly call out in their introduction post "It may struggle with distinguishing authoritative information from rumors, and currently shows weakness in confidence calibration, often failing to convey uncertainty accurately"
