Branching Out in 2025

Posted on:

This current iteration of my website has existed since 2019 and for those 5 years, I have primarily written a lot of tech related content. I am a software engineer by trade so it is given I have a lot of interests in technology. That said, until starting last year, it has been a lot of tutorial-esque content. I want to change some of that.

How to use a certain piece of technology in a general sense is useful, but official sites or documentation networks can serve much higher quality content that can be kept more up to date. What I think is more interesting is how I take certain technology to solve my own problems. As well, critiquing tech and ramifications that come out of things at a tiny or massive scale takes things a step further of understanding not just what something is for, but where are there shortcomings or ways to expand upon.

And even outside tech, I consume a lot of different types of content and I think I want to be able to share my thoughts and insights about such. I consume a lot of japanese anime and manga. I dabble in photography. I enjoy playing story driven video games. In terms of SEO, sharing varying types of content may not be great in terms of page rankings, but I want this site to be more of an expression of myself rather than just one slice of me. There aren't any rules on what can be posted or not, so being able to expiriment and try new ideas out into 2025 and beyond is something I want to work on.

For years, I've been wanting to do a full redesign of this website, but instead, just writing more often and about different things I think may lead me down the road to see what sticks and what doesn't rather than doing a complete refresh. What's important for me in my eyes is just getting things out there, and the site as it stands allows me to do that, so I want to push forward with that.
