Weeknotes #40 (August 09, 2025)

Things I found, read, did, and produced this past week.
Things I wrote
- I decided to make a post starting to aggregate posts and ideas of mine on what I'm calling Intentional Computing which is encapsulating habits and thoughts on how to go against of the grain of doomscrolling on the internet for hours on end.
Things I consumed
- After catching up with Ryan North's Fantastic Four run, I decided to start reading Jonathan Hickman's run from 2009-2012. Had a very strong start with Reed Richards trying to solve the results the Civil War arc of Marvel comics which was also portrayed in the mid-2010s MCU movies
- OpenAI's next frontier model, GPT-5 was released to the public this week. The model itself I have not seen too much excitement over, and one of the major misshaps was an error with one of their graphs shown in their presentation to the point that people have started calling it Vibe Graphing. On top of that, enough people were upset that the older models were yanked that OpenAI brought back GPT-4o.
- Jim Nielsen wrote a piece recently on How to Make Webites That Will Require Lots of Your Time and Energy. If you aren't picking it up it is completely satire but a critique that sometimes people reach for certain tools faster than they actually need and will result in technical debt that you will carry down the road.
