Weeknotes #42 (August 23, 2025)

Things I found, read, did, and produced this past week.
Things I did
- In my apartment I control a majority of the lights through Home Assistant and I more frequently in evenings been only turning on lamp lights and no overhead lights, and rather than have to go turn on one by one, I set up an automation to do it all at once for me.
Things I consumed
- I've been playing The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy made by the creators of Danganronpa and Zero Escape series. Half visual novel, half tactics game. A lot of the characters definitely are offputting / not likeable, but that feels like what the creators planned to do rather than have all of them be likeable from the beginning.
- After 7 years, Hollow Knight: Silksong was finally announced to come out September 4th this year. Although it is not likely a game that I am going to pick up day 1, it is one of the most anticipated indie games since it was announced 7 years ago.
- As well, there was a Kirby Air Riders Direct this past week as well. I didn't have a Gamecube when I was young so I did not play the original game, but from my friend's response the team behind this game definitely is modernizing the game while also keeping the charm of the original.
- Apple TV+ price hiked to $12.99, which personally for me I feel okay with given how I am going into streaming services now is trying to minimize subscribing to services that I only watch one or two shows at a time on. For instance, I want to watch the 3rd season of Foundation that came out over a month ago, but by waiting till now to start it, I only can sub to Apple TV+ for 1 month rather than 2-3.
